The parents to Luke Barnes are John (Jack) and Catherine Ann Barnes (Kate – nee Snowden). He was born 31st December 1922 and lived at 148 High Street Mosborough, Derbyshire.
Luke trained at Chicoutima, Canada, transferred to 74 (Tiger) Squadron Spitfire LFXVI TB 739, Royal New Zealand Air Force, his regimental number was 422356.
He died on 19.4.1945 at the age 22 years old and was buried at Becklingen War Cemetery 27.E.13 near Soltau (directly south of Hamburg).
