From the ORB of 221 Group
23/12/41. MINGALADON and RANGOON raided at 1000 hrs L.T. by about 50-60 Japanese bombers escorted by fighters. MINGALADON operations room, two petrol dumps, MT Shed, one hangar destroyed. all communications to aerodrome broken. EA losses 9 bombers and 1 fighter – Allied (British and American) 2 Tomahawks, 2 pilots. RAF Casualties at MINGALADON 7 killed 15 wounded.

The 7 killed would match the 7 RAF men unaccounted for in SEAC on this day. (Not counting the sole BVAF Casualty who also probably succumbed to the enemy raid)    Credit to W Mac Rotherham for the above information.
