PRIVATE JOHN ROSE
Private John Rose is one of the heroes whose name isn’t on the Cenotaph at St Mark’s Church Mosborough. He was born in Mosbro in 1898 to John and Clara Rose, according to Ancestry in 1911 John lived at 8 New Street Mosbro with his brothers Henry, Joseph, Thomas and his sisters Harriet, Ellen, Clara, Maggie and Joy. He was 13 years of age.
John enlisted at Killamarsh into the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry 2-4th Battalion, his regimental number was 47775.

He was killed in action in France. He died on 21 July 1918 and buried at Courmas British Cemetery, Marne France – Memorial Reference I.I.I.
