LANCE BOMBARDIER EZRA BOULTON

Ezra Boulton was born in 1908 to William H and Clementina Boulton, he lived at 28 South Street, Mosborough Derbyshire with his sisters Florence aged 14 years, Sarah Ann aged 12, Edith Mary aged 10, Marion aged 8 and Esther Annie Boulton age 1.  Also, his brothers Albert 16 and William aged 5 years old according to the 1911 Census.

Ezra enlisted into the Royal Artillery, 11 Bty., 34 A.A. Regt. the Theatre of War he was in was Malaya, his registration number was 797441. He died at the age of 36 on 7 August 1942 in the Singapore region. He is buried in Kranji War Cemetery, Kranji North West, Singapore.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The inscription on Ezra’s grave says:

Below is the Grave Registration Report Form of Ezra Boulton.

                       

Mr and Mrs. W. H Boulton 28. South Street. Mosbro’ have been notified that their son, Bombardier Ezra Boulton (34). is posted missing in Malaya.  Serving with the RA., he has been overseas for the past three years, and has been in the Army 14 years. During his earlier period in the Forces.

He is the  he served five years in India where he was awarded the Indian General Service Medal for bravery on the North-West Frontier in 1932.

He is the holder of a cup for polo playing when in India. He was a Reservist for two years and was employed as a miner at the East Birley Colliery and played for Mosbro’ Blue Bell FC. but re-joined the Forces four years ago. Two of his brothers and an adopted brother are also serving in the Forces.
