MOSBRO – DOUBLE WEDDING

WARD – KEETON    CARR – KEETON

 

Considerable local interest was taken in a double wedding on Saturday at Mosbro’ Church. Miss Keeton, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Keeton 207 High Street. Mosbro’, was married to George Weldon Ward, sixth son of Mr J. S. Ward and the late Mrs Ward formerly of Sicklebrook Farm, Coal Aston.

 

The bride, who has been a member of the City Hospital Sheffield, nursing staff, was given away by her brother (Mr. A. Keeton) and wore a dress of Coronation gold marocain, a straw hat with brown suede shoes, and carried a silver backed Prayer Book.  She was attended Mrs. W. Doxey (sister) who chose brown and oyster satin ensemble with hat and shoes to tone.

Mr. F. C. Ward (brother of the groom) was best man. As the bride was leaving the church presented with a silver horse-shoe by her niece. Miss Sheila Doxey.  Mr. and Mrs Ward have taken up residence at Rose Cottage, The Ford, Ridgeway.

Miss Jessie Keeton, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs, A. Keeton, of 207 High Street, Mosbro’, was married to Jack Carr, only son of Mr and Mrs J. Carr, 169 Milton Street- Wearing a gown of white satin, white satin shoes and veil, the bride was also given away her brother, Mr. Albert Keeton. She carried a bouquet of red roses.

The bridesmaids were Miss Betty Keeton (sister) and Miss Louie Wright (step-sister of the bridegroom) with Miss Pauline Wilkinson (niece of the bridegroom) and Miss Sheila Doxey (niece of Bride), the small attendants wore gown of mauve taffeta, with hats and silver shoes to tone and carried bouquets of yellow irises.

 

The attendants wore Victorian dresses of yellow flowered taffeta and white kid shoes   They carried posies of anemone. Constable H. Howsam. of Sheffield City Police was best man.   As the bride left the church, she was made the recipient of a silver horseshoe from the newly married sister Mrs G W Ward.

 

Both ceremonies were performed by the Vicar (the Rev. M. Holmes and Mr. W. Doxey, (brother-in-law of the bride) was groomsman on each occasion. The bridegroom’s presented to the bridesmaids were crystal necklaces.  Mr and Mrs. J. Carr have taken up residence at Hanover Street Sheffield.

 

A reception was held at the bride’s home where some 60 guests were present.
