CORPORAL WILLIAM JACKSON

William Jackson birth place was Devonport, Devon, he was born to William and Elizabeth J Jackson.  In 1891 Census William was only 2 months old, the 1901 census shows William aged 10 living with his Sister Catherine and his brother James H. at Hale Hill Oldham.  According to 1911 Census William’s family had moved to 134 High Street Mosborough Derbyshire, this includes Catherine, James, Vincent and Fred aged 2.  William and his father worked as a Coal Miner, Loader and a Hewer.

William joined the Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment) 1st / 6th Battalion.  His service number was 240301.

William died at the age of 26 on 23/10/1917.
