UNLICENSED PICTURE PALACE. – Eckington Manager’s Mistake.

Visiting the new picture at Eckington on Christmas Day. Sergt. Bramley asked manageress told him that she did not know where it was.   The manager Frank Poile of Ridgeway was summoned before the Eckington magistrates on Monday, for using the picture house without having a license.

Mr. J E Wing, who defended, said that there had been a misunderstand. The license for the picture palace was first granted on 14th December 1913 when it was expected that the place would be opened.  As a matter of fact, the house did not open until the 16th February.

On 30th March last year an application granted for stage license, and Mr Potie. rightly or wrongly, was under the impression that this license covered everything and that did not need another license until next March.

The Bench dismissed the case on payment costs.
