The Issue

🌿 Protect Mosborough’s Green Belt – A Place for Nature, Heritage & Community 🌿

Imagine standing at the edge of Mosborough, where 15 peaceful acres of meadow roll gently towards the Moss Valley Conservation Area. You hear birdsong from the ancient woodland nearby, the rustle of leaves in the breeze, and perhaps the whirr of a passing cyclist along Gashouse Lane – a historic route, now part of the Local Cycle Network, where walkers, runners, and riders come to breathe and unwind.

Now imagine this special place replaced by bricks, tarmac, and traffic.

North East Derbyshire District Council is proposing to allocate this precious green space for housing, industry or maybe a traveller site. We believe this is the wrong place for new development. Once it’s gone, we can’t get it back. This meadow is more than just land – it’s a living, breathing space for wildlife, a green corridor for people, and a vital link in our community’s heritage.

We’re not against new homes – but they should be built where they make sense: on brownfield sites, where regeneration can breathe life into neglected areas without taking away what we already cherish.

Let’s give future generations the gift of nature, not the loss of it. Please sign this petition, share it widely, and help us protect this corner of Mosborough for the people, wildlife, and history that call it home.  Click on the link below to access the petition.
