Private Gerald Wood

Gerald Wood born to William, Joseph and Ruth Wood in 1919 at Mosbro.  They lived at 3 Elm Crescent according to the newspaper clipping.  Gerald joined the Northamptonshire Regiment 2nd Battalion his service no was 5887735.   Before entering the Army, Gerald worked at Norwood Colliery and was married to Violet Wood.

 

They lived at Norwood Crescent in Killamarsh. He died in the Central Mediterranean on 11 July 1943 at the age of 24 and was buried at Syracise War Pit VI.E.12.

 

Inscription says:

IN LOVING MEMORY OF GERALD A BELOVED HUSBAND AND SON. AT EVE AND IN THE MORNING, WE WILL REMEMBER HIM”
