Thomas Staton
Thomas was 5′ 8” in height, he weight 9st 10 lbs, he wore a hat which was a size 6 5/8, (see photograph below of Thomas’s hat and his details written inside).
    
His shirt collar was 15 and he wore size 7 shoes.  The number of his watch was 2582 and he had 1 season ticket according to his diary.  He lived at 1 Station Road Mosbro until 1926 and then moved to 12 Mosbro Moor Mosbro. Nr Sheffield.

James Staton drowned himself in well in garden on the 15th day of November Monday evening 1915.

Mrs Holmes drowned herself in the Canal at Killamarsh on Sunday the 19th of January 1919.
1920
House end painted by the Independent paper to finished Monday April 14th 1920.
Steven Anall died on the 23rd day of July 1920 and was burried on 26th day of July.
Advertisement on the house end, finished on the Thursday 14th day of October 1920.
John Woodward died on the Sunday 12th day December 1920 Burried on Thursday 16th.

Mosbrough Harry Freemen hanged himself on Thursday January 16th1930 in harmly Goal with twine for making male bags.
June 16th 1930 Coal sold to olethorp maian Friday June 16th.
1932
Sunday 22nd May 1932 burst in wood and partly washed Robinson Mill down also road fell inn down Knowle Hill against the planting house flooded same day all killamarsh medowes were flooded and houses all over Derbyshire.
Thursday October 13th 1932 thacking ½ day men wages seven at three and nine Corn carries ½ day 4s 9d. Snap money 4s.6d. Coal 6s.0d total £2.1.6d.

From this point on Mary Staton (Thomas’s daughter-in-Law) continued to enter information into the Diary, with her daughter Maureen’s help until she died in 1992.

RECIPE FOR SWELLED LEGS IN HORSES

1oz of Birdeye tobacco

1oz of Y(G)ention root

1oz of Aloes put all into a pail of chamberley give ½ a pint 3 times a week mixed with food.

 

EMBROCATION

½ pint of White wine Vinegar

½ pint of Turpentine

¼ pint of Hartshorn 2 new laid eggs

1oz of salt petre

Stir the eggs well before mixing them, mix all together in a Bason before bottling.

 

RECIPE FOR PAIN IN BACK

1 Friars Balsam

1 Balsam Privet

1 Sweet Nitre

1 Oil of Juniper

 

RHUMOTISM RECIPE

1 oz of Perumon Bark,

1 dram of Iodide Potasum.

1 dram of Sal Volatile

Boil bark three gills of water down to a pint.
